Three-dimensional simulations of reversible bimolecular reactions. II. The excited-state target problem with different lifetimes

چکیده
We report a first microscopic simulation for the diffusional kinetics of a reversible excited-state reaction, A1B↔ AB, where A and AB have different lifetimes and the B-particles are in excess. When the excited species equilibrate fast compared with the excited-state lifetimes, one obtains the pre-equilibrium approximation. The full time-dependence in this case is approximated by a shifted infinite-lifetime expression, and this allows us to derive an analytic expression for the asymptotic exponent. Multiplying this exponential is a t term. When the excited-state decay of AB is fast, we obtain the quasistationary approximation. Quantitative comparison between various theories and simulation is presented. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1496455#

Diffusion-influenced excited-state reversible transfer reactions, A*+BrC*+D, with two different lifetimes: Theories and simulations
We report accurate Brownian simulation results for the kinetics of the pseudo-first-order diffusion-influenced excited-state reversible transfer reaction A*+B C*+D with two different lifetimes using two different propagation algorithms. The results are used to test approximate solutions for this many-particle problem. Available theories fail when one of the two reactions or decay rate constants...
متن کاملEquilibration in Reversible Bimolecular Reactions
Fast reversible pseudo-unimolecular reactions do not approach equilibrium in the simple exponential fashion predicted by chemical rate equations. Many-body effects in bimolecular reactions have been revealed in an extensive series of Brownian simulations, showing up to three distinct phases in the approach to equilibrium. Recent theoretical developments are compared with the simulation as well ...

We report three-dimensional simulations of the reversible reaction A1B↔C for a single static A molecule and a uniform initial concentration of noninteracting B-molecules. The results are compared with various analytic approximations for the time-dependence of the binding probability. They are in excellent agreement with a recent theory of Sung and Lee @J. Chem. We obtain the exact Green function for excited-state geminate reversible dissociation with two different lifetimes and quenching in one dimension, in the absence of a potential of interaction. We consider the ground-state and irreversible reactions as special limits, and investigate the long time asymptotic behavior in comparison with that observed in three dimensions. © 1999 American Institute...
متن کاملExcited-state reversible geminate reaction. II. Contact geminate quenching
A realistic description of the kinetics of excited-state proton transfer to solvent ~PTTS! involves several simultaneous processes. Perhaps most well-studied is the reversibility of this diffusion-influenced reaction, leading to the t asymptotic decay of the initially bound state. This shows that the solvated geminate proton may recombine with the base adiabatically, in the excited electronic s...
